This is our adaptation of the pinto beans with the following recipe.
Ingredients
Pinto Beans
- 4 beef bouillon cubes
- 1 large quatered onion
- 6 cloves of garlic pressed
- 2 tbs chili powder
- 2 tbs brown sugar
- ½ tbs freshly ground black pepper

Instructions
- Place picked over (soaked if you like) beans, onions and bouillon cubes in a pot with a tight fitting lid.
- Fill pot with water by about 2 inches above the beans
- Bring water to a boil over high heat
- Saute garlic with bacon (that we are not using) in a pan then add to the beans (about 30s)
- Reduce heat to and simmer until beans are soft, about 3 – 3.5 hrs
- Add more water if needed
- Add chili powder, brown sugar, pepper and tapatio.
- Simmer for 10 minutes
- Let sit for a while.
